These two guides made available by the EU have been developed to help researchers to create policy briefs and share scientific evidence with policymakers.
Since policymakers play a key role and may influence or determine policies and practices at the national, regional or local level, it is fundamental to present scientific evidence in an accurate way, adapted to policymakers' needs and language. Well-explained scientific evidence is a crucial lever for informing policymakers on issues with proven facts and recommendations.
The guide on writing policy briefs for impact
This five-page guide explains how EU funded research and innovation projects can create a clear, impactful policy brief that informs policy.
This short document is divided into two parts;
- The first one explains precisely what a policy brief is, who policy briefs are intended for and where to start when drafting the policy brief. It gives basic guidelines to follow and the ones not to follow.
- The second one is focused on how to structure the policy brief to have the impact it deserves.
