2025: start of the 23 funded projects on Aquatic Ecosystem Services! Water4All 2023 Joint Transnational Call on Aquatic Ecosystem Services resulted in 23 scientifically excellent projects recommended for funding. The recommended projects will start their research activities in early 2025.
Knowledge hub of researchers: What does it consist of?
As an additional modality to the 2023 call, a new knowledge hub will be launched that consists of researchers from the funded projects. The knowledge hub will be operational for three years (2025-2028) as a network of researchers jointly working on the dissemination of their project outcomes in various formats (e.g. policy briefs, state-of-the-art reports, position papers, etc.) with the aim of supporting evidence-based decision-making processes for targeted stakeholders.
How is the knowledge hub managed?
On December 10, 2024, the Knowledge Hub Steering Committee which consists of several Water4All partner organizations gathered online to select the chairs of the steering committee and scientific coordinators of the Knowledge Hub.
- Chairs: Water4All partners FORMAS (Sweden), CNR (Italy) and University of Evora (Portugal) are appointed as the chairs, whose main responsibility is to coordinate and monitor the knowledge hub activities.
- Scientific coordinators: Miguel Ortega Sanchez (Universidad de Granada, EcoC2S project) and Jing Li (Lund University, CyaNoServices project) are selected as the scientific coordinators.
- Facilitator: VITO (Belgium) will have a pivotal role as the knowledge hub’s facilitator to increase the impact of activities by designing an implementation plan and communication strategy.
Collaborative workshop: the launching event of the knowledge hub!
The knowledge hub will be launched officially in spring 2025 (exact date to be decided) via a collaborative workshop with the aim of developing a systemic understanding of the challenges around aquatic ecosystem services. The workshop agenda will be designed to reveal the key challenges, knowledge gaps and key stakeholders that are relevant to the topic. The main output will be a position paper highlighting the common barriers and thus synergies and complementarities, or tensions and conflicts in the transition to water security through this lens.
